About

My name is Rory McGimpsey. I’m a History/Law graduate who is currently working in financial services. I’m also a freelance writer and blogger. I’m a graduate of Trinity College, Dublin (studied history) and also have an M.A. in Law. I’m married to Siobhán and my daughter, Bronagh keeps me on my toes.

In recent years, I’ve written extensively on the subject of sport, specifically rugby. In this time, I’ve written match reports, opinion pieces and feature articles for several  websites. I’ve written primarily for Planet Rugby and InsideIreland.ie, while also contributing material to other outlets such as Last Word on Sports and Q-Radio Network. I’m the Rugby Correspondent for InsideIreland.ie and I also present the InsideIreland.ie  Rugby Union Podcast.`

I write mostly about Irish and Ulster rugby, regularly attending matches and press conferences at Kingspan Stadium.  You can follow me on Twitter: @RoryMcGimpsey. My e-mail address is rorymcgimpsey@yahoo.co.uk.

While I thoroughly enjoy my sports writing, I’m keen to explore new ideas. Therefore, this blog is intended to develop my writing further and broaden my canvas, so to speak. Outside of sport, I’ve many interests, e.g. music (particularly the wonderful Beatles), history, current affairs, TV, film, and much else besides. I’d like to use this blog to share my ideas with others, providing my opinion on a host of topics in a way that I hope will be informative, interesting and (occasionally) amusing.

I’ve no desire to reinvent the wheel here, but I hope I can provide content that will be enjoyed by others, while giving an insight into my opinions on issues and topics that interest me. I’m very open to feedback and criticism, so please feel free to offer comments on my work. I hope you enjoy!

N.B. Please note that all opinions and views expressed on these pages are mine alone and do not represent any other individual or organisation.
